Kelly Canary 

Board President

Kelly Canary serves as the misdemeanor supervisor at the Snohomish County Public Defenders, where she has worked since 2011. Prior to her current position, she was Washington Innocence Project’s first Staff Attorney. Kelly also previously worked as an attorney the Northwest Defenders Association and the Federal Public Defenders of Eastern Washington. During law school, Kelly worked as a legal intern at the Innocence Project in New York, the Federal Defenders of Western Washington, and Washington Appellate Project.

She has presented at statewide programs on the National Academy of Sciences report, paraphilias, the use of experts, effective client communication and prepping your client for trial.   Kelly earned both her B.A. and J.D. at the University of Washington, and is an alumna of the Washington Innocence Project Clinic.
